Why I’m a member of The REALTORS® Land Institute

Since 1995 I have been a member of The REALTORS® Land Institute (RLI).  This organization provides me as a land specialist information to continually build knowledge and the opportunity to build relationships with other professionals involved in leasing, selling, developing, and managing the ultimate asset; land.

Yesterday we auctioned a 160 +/- acres in Clay County, AR, 140.45 +/- acres in Dunklin County, MO, and 23.91 +/- acres in Pemiscot County, MO.  Both the Clay and Dunklin County tracts were irrigated by a pivot.  The soils are a fine sandy loam.  The Clay County tract also included a 50’x90’ shop building.  The Pemiscot County tract was in the city limits of Caruthersville, MO.  It is currently being cultivated but is zoned for single family residential use.

Cropland Values Continue to Rise in the Mississippi Delta Region According to USDA

On August 4, 2011 USDA released its Land Values 2011 Summary and Cash Rents.  The land values and cash rents are averages across an entire state.  Since this is an average it is easy to find recent transactions that were lower or higher than what USDA shows.  Although these are average land values, it does give us useful information about trends.

As communication tools advance and change we at Glaub Farm Management try to image how we can use these tools to provide relative information to our clients, farmland landowners, and prospective farmland investors. We see the use of blogging as a great tool to communicate and foster an open discussion to our clients, farmland owners, and potential farmland owners over a range of topics concerning farmland ownership in the Mississippi Delta region.
